I saw the first Black Phone when it reached streaming. I laid in bed after a long day of work, heard good things about it, so I gave it a try. It was a fantastic horror movie. Horror movies get a lot of flack, but this year, there's been a lot of really decent ones. Sinners and this one are probably two of the top of the year. They're smartly written and tell an interesting story.

I was a teen when these originals came out. Didn't watch the series or the direct to DVD sequel, but did follow Love's journey as Julie James. I enjoy horror movies for the fun, the spectacle. With movies like this, I enjoy the mystery element. Trying to figure out who's hiding behind the mask or in this case, slicker hat.

The story was interesting and the characters were great. The pacing felt a little slow to me though.

Was it as good as the game? No. Was it a good sucessor as part of the Until Dawn universe? Kind of.
