Violet Gates (Meghann Fahy) hasn't dated in a while since the death of her husband. She works and takes care of her awesome little boy Toby. One night she decides to take a leap of faith with a guy she's met on a dating app. Date night goes wrong when she starts receiving mysterious image drops to her phone. Along with a simple request...kill her date.

Her date, Henry Campbell (Brandon Skelnar) works as a photographer for the mayor and wants to help Violet once she starts getting the mysterious drops. The mystery man is inside the room with them, watching her every move.

The movie does an excellent job building up both the mystery and tension of who's behind it and why. The stakes are raised when they mystery man sends someone to Violet's house to kill her son if she does not comply.

Her sister, who's babysitting young Toby, is knocked out and Toby locked in his room. She leaves, she warns anyone, she does anything other than what the texter wants, Toby dies.

The majority of the action takes place at the restaurant as Violet tries to figure a way to keep her son safe and not kill her date. She has to first destroy an SD card in Henry's bag without him knowing, playing the game to buy herself time.

A lot of why the mystery man wants Henry dead is because of what he knows about the mayor and who Henry's talking to. He's got info on corruption in the Mayor's office and they want him dead before it's revealed.

Violet is quiet the heroine in this as she figures out who is behind it and stops him before heading home to take out the person trying to hurt her son...who even helps her mom. For he is Sir Toby. The bravest knight in all the land.

It's an April drop, so we're still in the season of studios dropping off their sleepers. This was a mix bag for me. It had mystery and thrills and definitely kept my attention. The pacing was well done and I absolutely loved the characters.

Violet was charming and kind and brave with Momma Bear energy. She's a survivor of an abusive husband. She is trying to be hopeful for a better future. Henry was a nice guy who was hoping to find a connection with Violet. Toby was adorable and lover of knights and kingdoms and fantasy.

When the credits rolled and the happy ending is given, it becomes a little forgettable. While it was certainly enjoyable, I wouldn't put it under a movie I'd watch over and over or get a physical copy of. I would however recommend watching it. Feeling the tension of a mom trapped in an impossible situation...kill her date or lose her son.

For a weekend watch on streaming, definitely give it a go. If nothing else, you'll have a good time.
